Resolution Declaring the City of Newton’s Support for Newton’s Transgender, Gender Diverse, and LGBTQIA+ Community

As Pride month begins, the resolution titled, Resolution Declaring the City of Newton’s Support for Newton’s Transgender, Gender Diverse, and LGBTQIA+ Community (Docket item #195-26), spearheaded by City Councilor-At-Large Cyrus Dahmubed and co-docketed by 11 additional councilors and Mayor Marc Laredo, was unanimously approved by city leaders of the Programs and Services Committee at its June 3rd meeting advancing it for full Council vote next week on June 15th.

The resolution, which emphasizes Newton’s status as a Welcoming City, affirms the municipality’s commitment to equal protections, dignity, and safety for transgender and gender-diverse community members, condemning discrimination based on gender identity and expression.
