Gay Art History: Then and Now, June 29
June 29 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Art tells us so much about the person who created it and the cultural context that shaped them. From frescos to comic books, from marble sculptures to performance art, there are threads of queerness and gender nonconformity woven into art history as far back as art itself has existed. Art historian and LGBTQ+ Newton member Molly McGowan will introduce pivotal pieces of LGBTQ+ art history spanning countries and centuries. If you have a personal favorite piece or artist, come prepared to share!
Join us on Monday, June 29 from 6:00 – 7:30pm at the Newton Free Library, Meeting Room B (first floor, across from Druker Auditorium). This event is in partnership with the Newton Free Library.
